Hey Community Member, I’m Eric Hoke, and it’s great to meet you!
About me:
I spent 15 years in pastoral ministry - missionary, youth pastor, executive pastor, and church planter, and half of my ministry was Covocational (I had outside employment in addition to pastoring).
In my day job, I work in training and development, supporting emerging professionals in finding IT and Project Management jobs. I have previously worked in corporate leadership as a trainer and executive coach.
Most people know me as the “I Help Pastors Get Jobs Guy.” I founded a coaching and career agency that helps ministry professionals rebrand and market their ministry skills for non-ministry jobs, which helps sustain their ministry long term. I also published my first book on this topic last year: Market Street Pastor.
My current focus is this Substack (I am a recovering X addict), where I aim to help career-changing and career-expanding professionals figure out what they want to be when they grow up (after they're already grown up). My work is primarily geared around career, calling, and identity.
Now for the fun stuff: I have been married for 14 years and have 3 daughters (6, 5, 2). I currently reside in Lancaster, PA, though I am a New Yorker at heart (Go Yankees). Outside of work and family, my hobbies and interests include grilling burgers in the summer, riding my eBike, and podcasts.
I do write from a Christian based perspective but the primary focus is simply helping career changing and career expanding professionals find clarity in their purpose so they can find confidence in their actions.
